BBQ Marathon...or so it felt!

I had an engagement free weekend, so I thought it'd be fun to fire up the smoker and play around a bit. The one thing I was most excited about was trying out some chicken lollipops! They were labor intensive, but worth it. All the neighbor kids LOVED them. They were asking about them the next day!!! I'll be doing them again.

Here's a pictorial of the event.

Pork butts rubbed with Head Country

Wrapped at 160*

St. Louis cut Spare Ribs rubbed with Suckle Busters Hog Waller (thanks secret santa!)

Lunch!

Chicken Lollipops!

Also had some pork chops and country style pork ribs for one of the neighbors on the smoker.

All was very good. Vac sealed what wasn't eaten and gave to neighbors and friends. I was definetely tired when it was all over. I had prepped/smoked (and drank!) from 8PM on Friday night until 5PM on Saturday night. And drank some more after that. Waited to vac seal everything until Sunday afternoon. Not to mention we had some outdoor projects to do both days as well. Great weekend! I think I could do this everyweekend!

Thanks bbquzz! The lollipops are drumsticks that you cut the skin and "knuckle" off and push the meat down the bone. I went ahead an pulled out (with pliers) as many tendons I could so the kids wouldn't freak out (I'm not sure if they wouldn't have broke down in the cooking process, so I did it anyway). Rubbed them with my chicken rub and placed in a muffin pan that had a tablespoon of butter in each hole. Cooked for about 2 1/2 hours. Finished on the smoker for an hour or so. I decided not to sauce them as I know kids can and bbq sauce isn't a great idea! It was great seeing the kids enjoying them so much! I'll bet your grandson would enjoy a couple lollipops here soon!

Re: BBQ Marathon...or so it felt!

Hey Chris, that's some serious cooking. That was a real marathon weekend! Love the chicken lollipops. Were those done using chicken wings? The look so large like they were done with a leg. Must be the close up that's doing that. Heck with the kids, I'd like to have those for myself.

Sorry about that. My response posted after Buzz got his post answered. Very ambitious pardner.
