Yeah, it took me a couple of forums to be kicked off of before finding this place.

A little closer in Brian, in Reston. It was still way out in the sticks when we bought 25 yrs ago.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone.

(I get out to Bluemont now and then on my motorcycle. You're hard put to find a rural VA road that isn't pretty and fun-to-ride.)

John and I went to college together in the late 60s at the University of Illinois. He went on to get a PhD in archaeology. I moved to the Aleutian Islands and later went to law school. He's the only buddy from college I still keep track of. He and his wife, Jody, have been to Alaska multiple times. March of '07 we're gonna meet up at his house in Virginia and spend a week, or so, driving around in the Carolinas. Finney, when the time gets closer, I'm going to rely on you for some Q joints to visit.

We want to hit the best representatives of as many of the regional variations of "Carolina" barbecue as possible, constrained only by time ... and wives who like barbecue a lot, but may not be quite as hard-core as we are.

(Nominations are very welcome!)
