What a great welcome...thanks folks...well first Boston butt on the charcoal side isn't going too well. Nothing like learning by "the trail by fire," my fire is way too hot...put a noob question in the grill section..lol nothing like an old dog learning new tricks....

Kindly keep us posted on how it turns out. Butts can take a bunch of abuse and still come out excellent. Lot less worrisome than most other meat choices. Guess I have had worse results cooking them too slow than too fast. Low temps and rapid air exchange has a definite drying effect. Dont bother me in the least to kick it up to 300-325 or so. Never tried it on purpose much past that but it might could go higher.

That ground is too rocky by far. No need to go out of State for the corn in a jar.

Aren't you a fortunate young fellow. Have you tried any of Popcorn's Tennesee White Whiskey? Bocephus and some other rich fella are supposed to be cranking it out for retail..or maybe you know where to snag some wholesale? wink wink.
