Hello from South Carolina

Howdy,
Just getting into BBQ'ing and need to learn everything from the ground up. I've always cooked on a gas grill but now I'd like to learn how to cook at slower temperatures.

Hope you guys take it easy on me...

Thanks for all the kind word... I'm getting a smoker in the next couple of weeks, so I'll be ready to mingle soon enough.

Do you care to share what type of smoker you're gettin'?

Re: Hello from South Carolina

Welcome, Slowpoke. I am not a year into smoking. I just lit up yet another brisket, probably my favourite so far.

Check out the Weber Smokey Mountain, which is pretty much the standard. Even the old boys are getting them. Best money I ever spent, other than on condoms.

18" and 22". Ask around for the benefits of either. I have the smaller one, as ... well as you know, I'm single. Other than that, this forum is jam packed full of ideas.

Cheers

P.S. Check out my vids in the signature.

Re: Hello from South Carolina

I'm not familiar with that type of smoker Slowpoke, but I'm sure others on here are. As BeeRich says, the WSM is wonderful smoker to have. It's pretty simple and holds temp pretty steady. Regardless of what you end up with, you'll have to learn how to cook on it and figure out it's quirks. I can also bet that it won't be the last smoker you purchase either. Have fun and feel free to ask as many questions as you want. No shortage of opinions here.
