Grillin in Texas

Names Wiley (Smokincoyote) Mixon. Getting back into grilling so I thought I would find a forum. I have been on several forums and email lists over the years but just quit for a while. I used to have a Klose pit among several others and did some local cook offs each year but I've got out of it. Sold all of my cookers except a WSM and a weber kettle. I just got a Tiernan Son of A Brisket cooker that is made local here in Amarillo. I mostly grill at home now and every now and then will low and slow a brisket or butt. Lookin forward to getting to know y'all.

Bigwheel things have been pretty good. We've been dealing with health problems with our kids for the last few years. They have spent a lot of time at children's hospital in Dallas and at cooks children's hospital in ft worth. I guess that is why I haven't been cooking very much. I do miss my Klose pit sometimes. Nothing better then an all wood fire and a brisket but I'm happy with the cooker I have. It does all I need to do anymore.

Max I don't know if I'm related to Myron Mixon or not. Could be. My dads side of the family come from down in that part of the country.

Sorry to hear of those family health issues. You and yours will be in our prayers. Hear you on the bbq pits. My old square pit aint seen a fire in years. I cook purty dang good bbq on my electrified Brinkmann..I get made fun of by certain swamp critters...but it sure beats messing with all that crazy wood..I just pick up a few branches out in the yard..lol. Very hard to screw up the cooking..less its windy. Now would beg to differ on the very best...find a bohunk to cook you some slow direct over S. Texas Mesquite coals sometime. It could make a person want to chunk rocks at the offset creosote factories. Speaking on Kloses..that wild man Nurse..Medic..Corpsman? Gave me a call a few days ago. He was talking faster than I could take dictations..but do recall one prediction so we can see if its on the money. He say there is oil in N. Dakata which is fixing to put OPEC out of bizness. Who has heard of anything like that?
