Another Noob Pellet Cooker

A quick Hi, My name is Chuck. Just purchased a Pellet Stove (Green Mountain) and cruising around, found this place. Been cooking with Charcoal for yrs and decided I wanted to add some other flavors to my meats. Look forward to testing some recipes on here and sharing my experiences too.

Re: Another Noob Pellet Cooker

Welcome to the party. I like to keep pellets around to add the different flavors to my smoke too. It sure can be nice to have several different flavors to chose from, without filling my carport with logs. There's a bunch of good people with great ideas on smoking and grilling along with just plain good cooking. But watch out for that one guy...you know, every group has one.

Re: Another Noob Pellet Cooker

Thank you Bob, That is what I do also. is keep several flavors, of pellets, then mix them in the hopper, as I fill it up. I have found Pecan and Hickory great on yardbirds, and apple and hickory on ribs. Oh I will be sure to watch out for that guy, your right seems like there is always one or two on every list.
Thanks again. and keep em smokin.

Re: Another Noob Pellet Cooker

How you doing Chuck nice to meet you. I think you'll enjoy the different flavors, of smoke you can get from the pellets. I started on a brinkman offset about 10 years, ago. produced some good Q, then I got tired of having to fiddle with the vents, the charcoal, maintaining the heart, and everything else that goes along with smokin, so I bought my first pellet popper, and was amazed at how much time it freed up, one draw back to the pellets, is not near the smoke flavoring as the charcoal burners, but still excellent flavor. take care and keep em smokin.

Re: Another Noob Pellet Cooker

I know exactly what your talking about, years ago. I was on the smoking circle forum, and no matter what I said someone would cut the hell out of it. So I finally just quit talking on it. So far on this forum I have met some very nice people. Which to me is very refreshing, I'm just here to learn and and maybe share my limited knowledge. So far its a great forum to be part of. learned some things, and also how to improve things, with my Q. Great to be here.
