Here you go Bill as requested.
1/3 c regular rice (cooked)
1 large head cabbage
1 egg
1 lb. ground beef(I use sirloin, less fat)
1/2 c chopped onion
1/2 tsp. salt(or to taste)
Fresh ground pepper(To taste)
4 slices bacon cut in 1in. pieces
1 16 oz. can tomato sauce
1 16 oz. can diced tomatoes
1 can tomato soup
Garlic powder (To taste)
Cut out core of cabbage and run hot water into cored area to help in removing outer leaves. Rough chop remaining cabbage. Put chopped cabbge in baking dish and sprinkle with salt.Cut out about 2 in. of the heavy vein in the reserved cabbage leaves. Boil cabbage leaves till limp.
Beat egg slightly, combine with cooked rice, ground beef, 1/4 c onion, 1/2 tsp salt, and pepper. Depending on the size of the cabbage leaves place some of the meat mixture in the center of the leaf tuck the sides in and roll. Place rolls seam side down on top of chopped cabbage. In sauce pan cook bacon and remaining onion till bacon is crisp. Add tomato sauce, tomato soup, diced tomatoes, and garlic powder and simmer covered 5 min. Pour mixture over cabbage rolls and bake at 350* fir 1&1/4 to 1&1/2 hrs..
I usaually make a big pot o' smashed taters to go with.
Depending on the amount of rolls you want, adjust accordingly ;)
