My Cast Iron Grates came on Friday!!! Yesterday morning I rubbed the grates down with Crisco and placed into the oven at 275º for 2 hours. This is how I always season my CI pans and it works fine, I did not like the recommendation of doing it at high heat per the manufactuer.....done it like that before and it 'gooes' up the fat in my case. Anyways, I assembled the grates onto the Performer and Crisco'd up the main frame for the grates as it will not fit in my oven and then lit the coals.
Grilled a pound of bacon for the burgers and then proceeded to grill ground chuck burgers that had been seasoned with Wolfe Rub Bold and grilled sweet potatoes seasoned with Wolfe Rub Original and some Nathans hot dogs.
I could not have been happier with how good the grates worked, not a bit of sticking whatsoever and they stayed HOT.
