We went camping this past weekend in the San Jacinto Mountains near a little town called Idyllwild. Our first time up thee. The weather was a little warm but it sure was a nice break from all of the humidity we have been having lately in San Diego.

A few pics I snapped while hiking.

Saturday nights dinner. Tri Tip rubbed with some Knox's Black Pepper rub. A couple of onion buds in the background. Forgot to take an actual pic of them

Great pictures John and the Tri Tip looks delicious. What did you use on the Onion Bud? I'm a new fan, but still trying different preparations and toppings.

I slice the onion as thin as I can and then cut up a slice of bacon for each onion, and then top with either a cajun spice or whatever rub I used on the meat I am cooking. top with a little cheese and add some chipotle sour cream or mayo. I think the chipotle sauce really takes the onion bud over the top, without it its so so.
