I hate to say it but I have 2 Char-Broild cookers and can't get a darn thing for eigther. Char-broil grills are basicly disposable, just not as cheap. I have pretty much stopped using my Char-broil stuff now because the kettle had tables, but now has 2 hoops on each side that are completely useless. The ash bucket you speak of is vertually usless on mine. I also have an offset smoker that hasn't seen food on it since I got my first WSM. I do just about everything on WSMs now, even grilling. I just put the top grate right on the charcoal ring and couldn't be happier.
