Grill & Smoker improvement??

Good Day Forum. I just made an enhancement hopefully?? Living up north (Pennsylvania Area), it gets very cold up here! Since I love grilling and smoking , I thought I would be creative and enhance my webber grill & WSM. To keep the charcoal from falling through the grates (once they get a size small to fall through), I took some galvanize wire and cut & wrapped it around the grates to keep the charcoal from burning out prematurely. Thoughts about this is appreciated, Thanks in advance.

You should not use galvanized metal in your cooker. Bad stuff when it out gasses.

The easiest way is to just buy another charcoal grate and rotate it 90 degrees from the other one and make a crisscross pattern. That is what I did and it works grate!!!

You should not use galvanized anything when using it for cooking. The chemicals used can burn off and leech into your food. I would replace that with stainless, or steel wire.
