Had lunch at Hoots Tavern on Trumbull Friday . I looked across the street and saw HALF of Tiger Stadium!!! Did not realize they finally decided to take the old girl down! One of the last of the great old parks! I took my daughter there in 96 to see the Indians. Tix were hard to get here. It was a dump, but a GREAT place to watch a game!!! Been to Comerica. Not a fan! I drove past the stadium the other day. Breaks my heart to see it go down. I remember going there with my Grandpa when I was a youngster watching Trammel , Whittaker,Gibson, and all the other great players.
The best was watching Mark "the bird" Fidrych talk to the ball before he whipped another strike across the plate.
Lots of great memories that I'll carry with me the rest of my life.
It's a sad day for Motown. Maybe they can build another casino in it's spot.
That's just what we need.

I think they are planning a a Kwame statue where the pitcher's mound use to be.

And you're right Woodman, it was a dump, but I haven't been to a better park to watch a game from (unless you had an obstructed view seat  )
