So what are you cooking today?

I'm making:

22 lb Turkey (roasted in the oven, didn't really have time to smoke it )
Dressing (homemade from scratch!)
Giblet Gravy
Sweet potatoes (homemade)
Mixed Vegetable Casserole
Deviled Eggs
Pumpkin pies (one from scratch, the other canned.....my 2 pie pumpkins didn't make enough for 2 pies)

I was going to make homemade bread or rolls but for just the four of us, this is way more than enough food!

2, 14lb birds to fry

24 hour stuffing (my sister in law makes it and it really takes 24 hours to make, don't ask for the recipe cause she won't give it away)

cheesy grits

green bean casserole

cranberry

taters with gravy (my brother makes this nasty quail gravy with eggs in it, we told him this year that the city folk prefers brown gravy)

backup gravy in case his gravy is nasty

and about 25 people

looking forward to it

I ended up adding mashed potatoes and turkey gravy to the menu by the time it was done. We ate at 12:30, then went out and played football with the kids. It was more the kids and me running around tackling each other than anything while Les played quarterback (he can't run due to a medical issue with his right leg). Here it is almost 4 hours later and we still haven't cut one of the pies! They look awesome but we're just stuffed!

Well no pics , it went too fast. Larry, I did your injection on the bird. Turned out great, juciest turkey anyone here has ever had. I think I might try something a little more savoury next time just for something different. Potatoes and beans are all gone, bread gone, 2 choc chess pies gone and just enough turkey left to barely fill a 4 qt tupperware bowl. turkey has already been requested again soon.
