Shipping a Virginia Country Ham to JB [video]

This ham must have a lil hunk of GOLD in it from the price. WooooooowEEEE!
It's mighty fine eat'n tho and worth every penny.

I'll be making a short video of stuff going into the box later and will mail Fed/Ex it tomorrow. Why Fed/Ex and not UPS? I'm a Denny Hamlin fan and Everyday is Race Day at Fed/Ex.

I gots the ham, some Chesapeake Crab Cake Mix, some Chesapeake Hot Sauce and a Virginia Tech Hot Sauce, more of my Home Made Rub and some shirts and crap. lol

I gotta go find me a bigger box!

peace

Good for you man.

As for the riptides we'll have to see the ocean conditions upon arrival. I'll sit on the beach and count set waves and times between sets and such as well as look where the sand bar ir breaking the waves. I'll be ok teathered to my Boogie Board but thanks man

Mike,
If you go through Smithfield, check out a real Smithfield ham (in this case, Smithfield refers to the way the ham is cured, not to the brand). They are dry cured in the traditional way, not injected with brine, and they're aged at least 6 months. (I once saw two that had been cured 50 years before - the owner of the company said his daddy cured them. One was his "show ham", and a few slices were cut off from time to time to be judged against others. The second had never been cut, and he was going to serve it at his daughter's wedding reception, if she ever got married. I should have asked him for an invitation, in advance.) If I remember correctly they always include both the butt and shank portions (in other words, they're big), and they cost a mint. Cooking them right is also complicated. But there is no substitute if you want a country ham that is like the ones made 200+ years ago. As much as I complained about the lack of good bbq when I lived in VA, I give them their due when it comes to cured hams: there's none better, IMO.

it will cook fine in any Heavy pot, just remember the rice is more than triple in volume so use a bigger pot than you think you need
