Spent 4 days at Holgate, NJ (beach) in the RV. I was trying to get in on the Striped Bass fall run and beached this one.

It weighed 28 pds and was 44" long.
I'm getting up there in Griff's class.

17# mono. Was the first time using 10/0 circle hook. Sucked was large. Had about 1/2# chunk of Bunker on as bait. This was my personal best, except for tuna.

My personal best was a 47 pound king salmon. My wife never fails to remind me her best was 175 pound halibut.

Who's the old guy the fish is holding? :?

That old guy was "the big dog on the beach" right then. When it was hanging from the scale at the bait shop (out front of the shop), people in cars were stopping. Old, my ass.

Tastes like Flounder or Walleye. By the time I would have spent driving around looking for a cooler big enough to hold it and get ice, it would have started spoiling. I cut the 2 fillets in 1/3rds and froze them up.
