Yeah, but you see Nick, the owners manual says nothing about not getting oil in there, just not to get any water in them. [smilie=a_doh.gif]

If Aarron has done it before and it works, why not give it a try. I have already thrown out my water logged probes and I don't get them wet anymore, I've learned!
 
I suppose if you just dipped the probe itself in the oil it would get hot enough to do something.

If nothing else it would clean the smoke stain off the probe.
