Po Boy got its name:

The history Chan. did a show on sammys history. It was pretty good.

Anyone know why they named a sandwich the "submarine"

I knew it. I watch all those kind of food history shows, got
most burned to dvd. I'm really fascinated by how tastes
change over the decades, and how certain styles came to be.

Ok fine....but I still don't get how a HOAGIE came from HOGS ISLAND sandwich.

Hoag.....hog... We don't say I wanna "Hawgie"... it's "Ho-gie" WTF

Thanks for posting that. The few times I've had one I tried to figure out the difference between a po boy and a sub/hoagie. Now I know - none.
