In the process of having an outdoor kitchen/bar area made. It was my Wife's idea to get one made, she just said design it how you want it. She said yes to just about everything I suggested except I really wanted a palapa but had to settle for just an awning for now, Maybe later. Of course she had to pick the color of everything.

Seating on both sides, bar height and at the end will be standard counter height with a sink and little prep area.

Right side will have the fridge, microwave and stereo.

John that's looking great! Are those speakers in the bar? If so, tell me more about them and how water resistant they are. I've been dying for some speakers outsidel.

Larry, I have a set of speakers from Radio Shack that I've had for at least 5 years outside, they sound great and of course since it was me who bought them, they weren't overly expensive.

The speakers are marine speakers. I figure if they can go in a boat they should be fine on the patio. Home Depot has speakers that are designed for outside use too.

Looks good V, but didn't see a spot for the 40" LCD? Where's that going? ;) Marine speakers are good and should sound good. What are you hooking them up to? Are you having a speaker wire ran back to your system in the house and are you putting a volume control on the island?
Larry, Costco was selling some surface mounted Yamaha Indoor/Outdoor speakers for $100.00 a pair about a month ago. Installed a couple pairs for some clients, they sounded suprisingly good, especially for the price.

Larry. I have had a couple of these for over 10 years in direct sun and rain. They sound good too!

V9, that looks likes it's going to be an excellent addition to your home. I only have one question, what are you going to do when the snow comes? Oh wait, duh, you don't get snow.

Update,

Counter has been tiled. Not very good pics, too much glare off the tile.
