Did you just put the probe in... or the whole unit?

I've tried it both ways but couldn't get it to transmit outside the metal fridge. I periodically checked the unit inside and it seemed to be working correctly. Placing just the probe inside worked correctly too.

I'd use the icy water/boiling water test for best results. Also, if you have another therm you can do at the same time for comparison.
