Spent last weekend doing a roadtrip with my wife to get away and celebrate our 20th wedding aniversery (I know, you guys are thinking I look to young to have been married twenty years). We headed east along Lake Ontario, through Rochester and made a beverage stop in a little place called Sodus Bay. Sampled a local cocktail that tasted just like grape kool-aid but had a whole crapload of alcohol in it. It tasted like it could be deadly. Travelled from there to Oswego and had a beer on a outside porch as we planned our next move, which we decidided to be Syracuse as there was an Iris Fest there. When we got there, we couldnt find a hotel, so we headed east again and ended up at the Turning Stone Casino. After some adult beverages, we crashed and continued east in the am (after, of course the obligatory all you can eat breakfast buffet). We stopped in Utica NY for a cup of coffee with Jeans aunt, then headed north into the Adirondicks and Old Forge.

On the way, we stopped at a gin mill actually called the "Stumble Inn" for bloody mary's. The place smelled great as they we're preparing the days specials and the stuffed jalipino peppers looked like something we were going to have to try. From where we sat at the bar, we could see the kitchen. Well, between the cooks having cigarettes in their mouth as they cooked and the dog hanging around in the kitchen, we decided to pass and head north. We got into old forge after making a few stops and it was pouring rain. Right across from the hotel , was a bar and about 30 bikes out front. Spent some time in there, then at another lounge that was a log cabin on a lake. It had an awesome view and good eats. There were deer wandering around everywhere. We saw one on the side of the road that walked up to our van and Jean fed him fritos out of her hand. Ended the night at a nice place with a seafood stuffed potabella and a perfectly cooked 16oz prime rib. As we were finishing dinner, a group of golfers walked into the dinning room. They were from our town (about 300 miles away) and we had gone to school with most of them. What a small world.

Breakfast the next morning at the "Pancake House" and a slow ride home via back roads. All in all an awesome short vacation.

Ive got a few pics Ill share if I can figure out how to get them off my phone !!

Sounds like a great trip....BTGG the only reason Lola stays with John is for the beer and chips :D Congrats on 20 years of marriage.

John I've been to Old Forge many times! Great place to visit! We used to go snowmobiling there all winter long. As a matter of fact, my last trip up there, my wifes sled took a $hit at the Stumble Inn and I had to high tail it back to Inlet to pick up my trailer to bring the sled home. When I got back, my kids came running out of the bar, laughing there butts off saying "Mommy is doing shots with the bartender"! Man, the things I miss! Anyway, glad you had a great trip!
