Well we just got back last night from Christmas in Hawaii. Takes quite a while to try abd catch up on all of the recent posts, but I did it! This will probably be the most memorable Christmas I will ever have. As most know, my son is stationed in Hawaii. My waife said early last year that for Christmas we would forgo the presents this year and take the rest of the family to visit our son. I had made plans to BBQ for Christmas, figureing it would be just the 5 of us. My son said that the hotel we were staying at on base had a couple of grills that I would have access to. He also said at his shop there was a grill we could use. Well when we checked into the hotel on 12/23/05, there was 2 gas grills and 2 open charcol (park style) grills that I could use. I figured that I would use the gas because I was cooking a stuffed pork loin that I was cooking indirect and there was no fesable way to cook indirect on the open charcol grills. We had to do our shopping on 12/24/05, so I had little time to spare. While we were at the commisary shopping, my son springs on me that he had asked a couple of his buddies who would have been alone for Christmas to join us. I said no problem, figuring it would be just a few guys. He then informed me it would be about 10 guys coming. Okay...shift gears. I figured besides the pork, I would then also do some chicken thighs, corn on the cob, potatoes and garlic bread. My wife gets me on the side and says, ya know Jason probably asked more than what he thinks he asked, you better figure for more. So i got 2 loins each 6 lbs and 36 thighs, figuring the extras the boys could take back and put in there refridgeraters. Well we got up Christmas morning and started our prep work, cut rub and stuff loins, clean and rub chicken. We had a piece of s%#t knife that started the problems. Next came time to "reserve" the grills. I went to the front desk and was told I could only reserve 1 gas grill. Okay, I'll do the chicken on the charcol so off I went. Well I went out to lite the grills and the gas grill was a 4 burner model that only had 3 burners that worked. 3 out of 3 burners are due for replacement, producing only an orange flame. Well all went well, got everything cooked and left for the beach. Thank God I listened to my wife, before the day was over, we fed my family (5) and about 20 marines. We started with about 10 at the beach, but as they were getting off duty and coming down, we ended up with about 20. The little bit that was left over my son took back to the barracks and gave it to anybody who was left that didn't make it down. When all was said and done, it was the best Christmas I ever had!

Hey Nick, How'd you like the Christmas card I emailed you?

And still................ "What, no pictures of (you know who)? #-o

It was nice, thanks. Just because of you I won't post any pictures! [-X [-X [-X

As you can see NIck, none of us are BBQ'ing due to the "winter doldrums" so we're just "passing time" (in Larry's case , gas) for the next three months!
