:grin: My chief asked for volunteers to go down to New Orleans are and lend a helping hand with the recovery. Its a 30 day commitment. The list came out today and I am on it. This doesnt mean that I am packing my bags, he still needs to finalize the list [-o< . He is sending 3 two person teams and there are 13 of us who were interested. My argument was that I am only working 3 days in September so I wouldn't be missed. The thing that is amazing is that my wife is supporting this. :razz: Will let everyone know as time goes on.

It cant be any worse than working in the projects in C'Ville. I still have my bullet proof vest. After seeing the news all day, it looks like the military has stepped up and is taking control. We will see.

I don't know how old you are, but I remember the riots in Detroit in 1967, when then Governor George Romney asked for Federal Troops to come into Detroit to restore law and order.

Nothing restores law and order quicker than the sight of a tank rolling down a major road in your city with a dozen fully equipped soldiers walking along side with a shoot first, ask questions later attitude toward looters. (real looters not those taking water and diapers), or when they blast a round into an upper floor of a hotel where a sniper is.

It was fun here back in '67.

Bruce I hope the Active Duty Soldiers, National Guard and Policemen do the same thing now. Damn this gets under my skin!! Anyone who would even think about, much less point anytype of firearm at someone there to protect and help them should be shot on site, no questions asked! If they are looting and have a "necessity" in their hand, let them go. If they have a "luxury" (tv, stereo, cigarettes, beer, etc) SHOOT THEM!!! THE LOOTING WILL STOP, FAST!

The stories we're hearing about, (rapes,(including children), beatings, murders, etc), that's not about survival. That's about being a low down dirty POS animal, thug, POS!!! Those SOB's do not deserve to breathe the same air we do, period!!
