I got a new camera, I got a new camera, I got a new camera!

Wooooohooooooo!
Just got back from Target [that's Tarzhea'] to you rich folk] where I picked up a new Digital Camera. I stayed with a long time camera maker and got a Canon.

It's a Canon Powershot A 560

Quote:
Feature-packed compact digital camera with 7.1 Megapixel resolution and high-quality Canon 4x Optical Zoom lens for freedom at your fingertips

DIGIC III Image Processor with improved Face Detection Technology and Red-eye Correction for sharper images and improved functionality

Clear, high-resolution 2.5-inch LCD for easy on-camera viewing

ISO 1600 and High ISO Auto to reduce image blur and expand low-light shooting capability

Four movie modes including 30 fps VGA and 60 fps Fast Frame Rate
I ain't opened the damn box yet boy. Oh I got a 2 gig SD card for it too and it should work on my tripod so I'm all set I think.

I better see if it came with batteries and open stuff up!

Wooohoooo!

Yeah I got a tripod and added the lil clip to the camera and here's what she looks like.
http://mikehedrick.com/bbq/newcamera.jpg

I'll try my first footage on it in a bit and then try and use the Windows movie prooy to splice things together. I will be having questions so ya'll bare with me till I get going.

Shooting clips will be fun. I almost climbed the damn house to shoot a clip about me shooting up with the injector and flying up on the roof. lol Then I used the joke in my post so I dropped it.

Not sure about that. My camera will be so I can practice for MonkeySee.com videos and yeah...some silly vids for here.

They just asked me to do a side or two with the Pulled Pork videos we will film September 17th. Think I'll do Cole Slaw and homemade Baked Beans from scatch...Fresh Boy.

How much film time will I get?
If I shoot at 640x480 and 30 frames per second how much time will I have using my 2 gig card? I think about 15 - 16 minutes.

It says a 512 card will get 4 mins and 9 secs. So 4 times that?

I'm thinking of taking ya'll on a field trip to Tims to see Waterstock stage being built and stuff.
Thanks

You're going to love that camera, do get better, rechargeable, batteries and a recharger. I use the Hybrids and always have a spare pair ready to go.

Where's the video Mike? I am interested to see your new toys in action.

Just noticed the time stamp. I will check back later when I am home.

It's uploading and converting.

I shot this one too long and too big. I'm using the faster 30 frames a second setting but I had it shooting 640x480 sized video and that's too large I think.

The video is also nonstop for almost 9 minutes which is too long as well. I talked too long about BBQ at the beginning and should have had spices premeasuered to make that part quicker.

Overhead lighting is not good either so I'll be rigging up some better light next time too. Had to do it myself too cus I'm home alone but all in all I did ok I think. Good information I think. We'll see what folks think. Gave Greg and this site a good spot too.

About another 10 minutes or so and it'll be done

Mike you don't have to import to WMM it takes to long, Just drag the clip into the center of the Wmm screen. Its almost instant, then edit your clip. Mike have duel monitors so I can have my movie clip folder & Wmm open, each on it own monitor
