Home Alone Turkey Sandwich

Yep, I'm home alone. I thought about going out and grabbing a poboy for dinner and a few cold beers but I decided not to. Couldn't decide if I wanted roast beef or shrimp or oyster or even a muffaletta. I thought about tossing a nice steak on the grill, naaahhhh..... I decided to just stay home and have a couple of turkey sandwiches. Nothing fancy, you know me.
So, I waiting for the turkey to warm in the oven and will throw a couple of pistolettes in the oven to warm too. I might go all out and have some chips with that! Mmmm........
Alright so while the turkey is in the oven warming I have the pistolettes ready to toss in the oven for about two or three minutes.

Sandwich is done!
Got some provolone cheese, turkey, avacado slices, tomato(wimpy but still good), lettuce, Mickle's Ghost Pepper pickles, Scratchmo's mustard, cranberry sauce and mayo.



All I can tell y'all is THAT was some damn good eats!

hey if your camera has a white balance setting, set it to indoor when takin your pics


then all that yellow will go away and look like this

Wow..looks mighty yummy. I knew our perpetual can of cranberry sauce which inhabits the cupboard was supposed to be used for something..and now I know. Hope its still good. Thanks.

Thanks guys! That was a killer sandwich I really enjoyed.

The next day I made a lil gumbo with leftovers.

If there's one thing I truly love about turkey is the inevtable of leftovers. Even better is when there's a carcass left to make the stock for the gumbo with. This was the carcass left from Tuesday evenings turkey cooked on the Traeger.

All ingredients in and time to simmer for a while.

A nice big bowl of delicious gumbo!

Looks mighty yummy. I tried making turkey soup with a leftover smoked carcass one time. It was flat nasty and smelled like an old dead turkey or something. I musta done something wrong. For gumbo stock I love Minor's brand Shrimp base. It can kick up to very high notches. Try that sometime.
