I have been burning Red Oak for years, and I had one White Oak tree I cut down a few years ago. I was amazed at the difference. It made the Red Oak seem almost like Pine by comparison.
 
Surprised I didn't see my fav the mighty Austrailian Pine..Beautiful hardwood with no sap and a neutral flavor when cooking. Probably cuz it is not a native tree I guess. Plenty of it here for the asking. Considered an invasive species.
