happy solstice

Happy solstice to all. The days start getting longer tomorrow. I took the attached pic at the Fairbanks airport 2 days ago, the 19th, at NOON.

So how many hours of light did you have Griff? Shortest day of the year right.

I think I would go crazy up there in the winter, I can't stand it that it gets dark here at 530 every evening!!! I'm curious to know how much daylight you have each day too.

Here in Anchorage we have a little over 5 hours of daylight now. Fairbanks, Alaska has about 3 hours and 40 minutes now. Northern Alaska where the North Slope oil field is had its last sunrise about 30 days ago and it won't come up again for 30 days.

It's more of a twilight though right, not complete darkness?

Hey Griff..heard on the radio that up in your State..certain areas I'm sure...the folks are encouraged to leave their vehicles unlocked in case a Grizzly starts chasing a person they can jump into a car and be safe. Mainly designed to help kids walking to school and back. Sounded like a good plan to me.
