I went to a party Saturday for the extravagant Endymion parade and of course I couldn't go without bringing something for the non stop eating that takes place throughout the day. My contribution was ABT's(I'm going to come up with a better name for that). I made about eighty of possibly the best I've made yet. They were a huge hit with everyone there and we probably could have eaten twice the amount I brought.
I made these with halved jalapeno peppers stuffed with some smoked pulled pork then on top of that was a cheese mixture of cream cheese, cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, fresh garlic and a bit of my own Cajun Seasoning. They were wrapped with a slice of bacon each and sprinkled with another salt free Cajun Seasoning. When done I glazed each one with a Cajun Asian Sweet Chili BBq sauce that I added blood orange juice to and simmered for a short time to reduce.
Some of them ready to go on the grill.

Here's something interesting that one of the chefs from Butcher brought. About | Cochon Butcher | New Orleans Sandwich Shop | Donald Link
It's a King Cake called the Elvis. That's right Elvis. It's filled with peanut butter, banana and house-cured bacon topped with marshmallow and traditional Mardi Gras decoration and instead of a baby in the cake it has a little pig. At first it may sound a little strange but it actually tastes pretty darn good.

There were lots of other delicious foods that were perfect for such a party and all were things you'd relate to Mardi Gras eating. There was "Rhonda's Jambalaya", muffalettas made with delicious meats from Butcher, Haydel's King Cakes and more. When it comes to a party like this the food is as important if not more important than the reason for the party.
Oh, and there was the parade that was really good too.

Kelly Clarkson was a Celebrity Grand Marshall.

Since it ends up getting dark before the parade ends they have the traditional Flambeaux torch carriers that used to light the way and shine light so you could see the floats before they started putting lights on the floats.

Hope everybody ducked when the alleged perp started popping caps into the crowd.

Why would you even bring up something like that? Damn!!!!!!! The shooting I suppose you are referring had nothing to do with my post much less anything to do with the Endymion parade and not even close to the parade route.
Some just have to look for the negative in everything I guess!

Woops..must have been a different parade which was reported on the news as having got shot up. Betcha the other one was where my school teacher friend and her hubby got mugged and robbed and she came back with a broke arm a few years ago. These multiple parades can get cornfusing for Protestants. Somebody should make a rating scale of those which are safe to attend. Hey maybe you could do that? Keeps us posted. Thanks.

He is Mr. Negative!

Please ignore the man behind the curtain.
Great post and pics! Not sure about that 'pizza' though.
But in the words of our 'holier than thou' moderator' :prayer:....I'd eat that!

That's no pizza Puff that's a King Cake and that one sounds like it is right up my alley, peanut butter, naners and more.:tonqe:
Guess I was thinkin' out of the box that it could be a pizza. Crazier things have happened.

:supz:

Will admit the food looks good..and the grand Marshalette is from real close to the Ponderosa. Just cant believe the young man do not allow no cuttings or shootins in his parade. It sounds a bit mundane. Prob didnt even have any ginges up for public display. The Centurion do not wield his sword in vain ya know? This could get some folks hot around the collar.

BACON! lots and lots of BACON!!!!!! Awesome man. Nice looking turds.

Might be me, but that sounds kinda not right.
