Does anyone have a water softener?

I just moved into a new home and it has a water softener. No instruction book and I have never dealt with one before. Can anyone take a few photos of how much salt I am supposed to have in there? Any help regarding the maintnence of this will be greatly appriciated.

I can only put one 40# bag at a time in mine though it would hold perhaps 8 of those bags. If I put more in it compacts and doesn't work properly.

Maybe try googling the brand/model/water softeners in general, bound to be some info out there.

One other thing, mine, perhaps yours as well has a bypass valve. If it hasn't been used in a long time it's possible someone just set the bypass valve instead of using it. Mine is clearly marked so there is no mistaking if bypass is engaged.
