Bumped into a fella day or two ago who is supposed to re-opening the currently closed down Railhead BBQ joint retail location in Colleyville, TX. This is his website and he claims to be a world famous contest cook. I aint never bumped into him at any cookoffs around here..and the names of some of the places he has cooked goes over my haid. Sounds like maybe he has been doing the Ribberfest circuit or something of that nature. Name is Dallas Green. Said he gonna be cooking on 3 Southern Prides and selling the big beers. He gave me a bottle of sauce and a bag o rub. Aint had time to try it but the first word on the ingredient list for the sauce is water..closely followed by high fructose corn syrup and MSG. The rub ingredients aint listed. Thanks.

Well there is a Railhead right in Fort Worth at Montgomery and W. Fwy. The place in Colleyville was a secondary location for them. Not sure why they decided to shut it down. The food wasn't much crappier than the other Q joints in town...and the parking lot was always full of cars. Rumor was the land had got so valuable it was a wiser economic decision to sell the land than to run a Q joint on it..but can't testify to the veracity of the rumor. Since somebody else is opening a Joint on the same spot may mean it was a hokey rumor. Thanks for the input James..I did notice another fella and a wifey looking lady running around there too.

First I heard of the Franchise concept. Know both locations was owned supposedly by the same fella named Charlie Geren..who's brother Pete has been a long time fixture on the State and National political scene. Charlie has recently become a politician too:

I met Dallas Greene and the new owners whilst chasing a teen aged hot rodder across their parking lot. The restaurant is right behind the high screwl and the wild driving kids like to cut through and try to get to Hwy 121 and avoid traffic on the road they supposed to be using. Fortunantly the folks had a road block set up near the front door by parking their cars across the parking lot crossways and the future Al Unser didnt have no escape route cept to try to jump a curbed in grassy area which he seriously contemplated. We was fixing to see if an old Crown Vic knowed that trick too:) Fortunantly the young skull full of mush made the right decision and decided to stop. Ya know the closing of the place seems to sorta correspond to Charlie's venture into politics. Maybe just a coincidence.
