I was skeptical when I first saw the Rib-O-Lator http://www.ribolator.com/
at the Shoreline Central Market Backyard BBQ contest in Seattle earlier this year. I was cooking solo as the Midnight Ramblers and was across from Bob Garnache and the R-O-L team. They got a First Place in Ribs to my Second and after having tried them I knew I wanted to get my hands on one!

I've got a few drum smokers, Weber Performer, 22" WSM and a Cajun Bandit and the Weber and EZ-Que Rotisserie rings to play around with and have used the Char-Broil rotisserie basket I use for thighs in competition with the drum and CB, so when I finally got Bob to cut down a set of trays to fit them I was pretty excited!

I set up the Weber/Cajun Bandit for an indirect cook using Kingsford and a combo of Guava and Orange wood for smoke and cooked the thighs and wings at @300-325*

These are trays that have been modified to fit the 22" rotis rings, but for those with Char-Grillers or horizontal barrel smokers (and even the gassers!) would be a great addition!

motor and rod not included ? strange

I'm sure its a liability thing. But the price is very reasonable.

Granted its probably not for everyone, but I'm a gadget freak and have been using the EZ-Que for a couple years and there is nothing out there like this for the backyard cooker.

Feel free to tune in to the show from last night and check the interview I did with Bob about his Rib-O-Lator!

There is a version he is working on for the Kettle style grills that should be out soon. Also, there is special pricing for all who want to try one out...if you go to www.ribolator.com and then click on the contact link and shoot Bob an email with the subject heading of "Radio Show" he will keep the old pricing of $79.95 and that includes the shipping.

Same goes for the Flavor Dome which is $49.95/free shipping as well...these offers are good for 1 week...just make sure you mention the show to get these savings!...if you are interested that is! ;)

Well if you have a rotess you can buy similar clamp baskets at Home Depot and BBQ Galore. My old chum Big Dave uses a set of two or three with which he can spin 6 splits I think. I can spin three on my one basket. That leaves odd man (or chicken half in this case) outta the equation is the only problemo. The splits seem to come 2 x 2 for some reason. It has something to do with arithmetic I think.
