Painting a pit

I'm gonna scrub the rust off my pit, and paint it. Do they make a hi temp primer, or should I just use the hi temp paint after I get it cleaned?

Just use the paint Capt. If you use rustoleum you have two choices. The spray can is flat and the one in the paint can has sheen. That paint has to be thined and sprayed with at least a Prevail spray system if you don't have a regular gun. What kind of pit do you have?

it was made by a small company near here. It's got a flat finish so
I'll just go that route. Thanks.

Dump a pint of 1200F paint in a clean 1 gal empty can. ( any auto paint supply can provide you one ) mix that with 1 quart rust-oleuim. And your pit paint job will last for about 5 years. Satin finish is what works for me. If you go nutty and pour the heat to it it will have a trendily to not wear at all.It just will burn off. I know the big buck pit builders do there best and I love the shine, But, Low and slow keeps me in line and a lot is avoided. Chrome don't get ya home, And neither does a fancy paint job!
