I wanted to see what all the comotion was about with the Ugly Drum Smoker. So I built one. It took about $120 in parts and the drum and took about 12 beers to build it. It can be built for less $$ but I opted for the brand new drum and had to have a little chrome 8) I also did quite a bit of braising (Charcoal basket & the nipples) but this cooker can be made without doing that.
I haven't painted it yet (optional) but I don't think a turbo heater and paint fumes would mix to well in my garage.
I'm gonna' season it up this weekend and get her cooking.
I'd like to thank Cliff H. and BBQ Bubba for countless tips and info.
I really appreciate it guys
Braising the expanded metal for the charcoal basket
Braising the nipples on
Because of this......
We added this handle for easy removal of the basket
Charcoal basket
Top cooking grate
A handle for the lid. A little chrome and she's ready to cook 8)
