charcoal basket?

I am looking at making one of these into a charcoal basket. (This isn't the brand or size - just linking to give an idea what I'm talking about). http://images.orgill.com/200x200/6931232.jpg.

What do you think? I'll cut a huge hole in the bottom (leaving enough material to maintain shape) and drill a bunch of holes along the side.

I'm looking at one that is 9 gallons. I would use it in my 24" off-set.

It is kind of thin. Will it hold up to the heat?

That bucket looks to be galvanized. Don't use it if it is.

Thanks! I am going to pick up some expandable metal and weld a basket together this weekend. I was being too lazy with the bucket idea!
